Our Story

Hi, I'm Troy French, and construction has been part of my life for as long as I can remember.

I grew up around job sites. My father, Charles French, was a custom home builder in Omaha for about 20 years. Even today people still talk about the homes he built. They were known for thoughtful design, attention to detail, and craftsmanship that lasted.

Like most kids of builders in those days, I started at the bottom. Picking up job sites. Hauling materials. Sweeping floors.

Working for my father came with high expectations. If something wasn’t done right, it didn’t stay. His famous saying was, “It’s OK if you make a mistake, you just can’t leave it.” I remember more than a few times when I had to tear work out and redo it because it didn’t meet his standards.

At the time it was frustrating, but looking back, it was one of the best lessons I ever learned.

Do it right the first time!

In 1984 our family moved to Florida and worked construction in the summers during High School. After High School I had the opportunity to play football on a full scholarship from 1986 to 1991 while attending the University of Central Florida, where I graduated with a Business Management degree.

Football taught me many of the same lessons construction did. Discipline. Accountability. Teamwork. Preparation matters and details matter.

For many years we operated as a subcontractor under the company name, French Carpentry, working with builders on large custom homes and specializing in detailed trim and finish carpentry. Those years gave me hands-on experience in almost every phase of construction.

In 2003 the company name was changed to Level 4 LLC here in Florida. After years of working with other contractors, I became a Licensed Building Contractor in 2018, adding Custom Homes and Contracting and began taking on projects directly.

Like anyone who has spent decades in construction, I’ve learned some lessons the hard way.

One project involved a second story addition where we assumed the roof pitch matched the existing structure. It didn’t. Correcting that mistake cost time and money and reinforced something I still live by today; “Assumptions have no place in construction.” If something matters, you verify it.

What keeps me in this work after all these years isn’t just building houses. It’s seeing something that once existed only on paper become a place where people live their lives.

Outside of construction, my priorities are simple. God, family, and country.

My wife and I have been married since 1991 (35 years and counting) and we’ve been blessed with three grown children and five grandchildren. My faith in Jesus Christ is central to my life. He is my Lord and Savior! I served as a youth pastor for five years and also coached football at Venice High School for five years, mentoring young men both on and off the field.

Building has always been part of my life.

For me, it’s not just about construction.

It’s about creating something that invites people home and lasts.
